Peal kiri peal

Peal kiri peal is a performative installation exploring perception, communication, and the construction of meaning through the interaction of body, image, sound, and material.
Created by Keisuke Sugawara and Shion Yokoo, the work draws from semiotics, sociology, and communication studies to examine how signs are interpreted differently by each individual. Through a layered composition of artistic and academic elements, it reflects on the gaps that emerge between what is communicated and what is perceived.
Rather than offering fixed meanings, Peal kiri peal invites audiences to navigate multiple interpretations and reconsider the assumptions, values, and systems through which we understand ourselves and our surroundings.

Review
“In this work, the urge to keep searching for meaning and to think excessively in academic terms felt not excessive, but entirely appropriate."
"This sculptural semiosphere functioned as an effective device for guiding the audience through the work.”
